Named for a historical building in their home city of Edmonton, Alberta, The Gibson Block is a three-piece original rock project that is sure to grab your attention! The band members met in 2008 while attending MacEwan University’s music program and quickly hit it off, so they started performing together in 2009 as party band All The King’s Men. After some time the band began showcasing their original music officially as The Gibson Block in 2012. From the beginning, The Gibson Block has worked to create a unique yet danceable style of rock which is fresh and infectious. As such the band is known for the raw energy of their live performances. In 2013, The Gibson Block was chosen for the Untapped Alberta festival series and appeared on CKUA Radio. The band then released a self-titled EP in January 2014. In 2014 they have been nominated for both an Edmonton Music Award in the “Artist to Watch” category and for a Yeggie in the “Best in Music” category. The Gibson Block was also SONiC 102.9’s March 2014 Band of the Month. Notable TV appearances include being featured on an episode in Season 1 of Avatar Media’s “Secret Setlist” which is on Telus Optik, and on an episode of Shaw TV’s “Edmonton Unplugged” series. In the summer of 2014 they had a successful Alberta/BC tour which concluded with K97’s Edmonton Rock Fest in which The Gibson Block opened for the likes of Doug & The Slugs, Chilliwack, Trooper, and Burton Cummings. Recently the band won an Edmonton Music Award for "Rock Recording of the Year" as well as nominations in “Album of the Year” and in the “Peoples Choice Award” categories for the 2015 Edmonton Music Awards. Fully armed with their experience and their hearts, The Gibson Block will continue to push boundaries in the Canadian music scene to deliver an electrifying and danceable sound for modern listeners.
Lutra Lutra

Lutra Lutra is an Edmonton based four piece original rock band. Composed of siblings Garreth (guitar, vocals) and Katrina Burrows (keys, vocals), Will Smith (bass), and Denis Frigon (drums), they create groovy, rhythmically interesting rock with clean vocals and harmonies drawing from influences such as Mother Mother, Modest Mouse, Arctic Monkeys, and The Doors.
Originally an acoustic duo of siblings from Red Deer named Katasauras Wrecks, Garreth (guitar, vocals) and Katrina Burrows (violin, vocals) supplemented their sound with hand drums and fellow Red Deer native and MacEwan graduate Will Smith (bass). Upon moving to Edmonton, MacEwan graduate Denis Frigon (drums) came on board, Katrina shifted to keys from a classical piano training background, and the group began creating a more distinct, unique sound.
Playing regularly at Filthy McNasty’s as a headliner, as well as gigs at other local clubs such as the Black Dog, the Buckingham, and Brixx Bar and Grill has lead to larger exposure performing to a greater audience base such as Muttstock and the Heart of the City Music Festival.
Upon completion of their six song EP, Lutra Lutra played a CD release show on Canada Day at Filthy McNasty’s. Having their first EP, released in August 2016, debut at #3 on the CJSR charts, the group is currently writing a full length album and playing local clubs.
